Ryan and Susan are creative musicians who reflect two sides of their artistic identity. Whether it is through the medium of the Great American Songbook, or their virtuosic ability to spontaneously improvise, they delve into their musical tool-kits, shaping their sound with Susan’s instrument-like, dusky, vocal style and Ryan’s brand of fiery saxophone.
While paying homage to Cole Porter, Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington, Lester Young and Billie Holiday, they cut loose to deliver free and dazzling performances. They join forces with the brilliant, adaptable guitarist Doug Brown, lyrical bassist Matt Rodgers, and powerfully subtle drummer Jake Polancich to create a sound all of their own.
