Jazz Central Studios: Ryan Meisel Quartet "Jarred Electric"

From Milwaukee Wisconsin, Saxophonist Ryan Meisel is bringing his quartet to the Twin Cities welcoming Minneapolis's own Cody Steinmann on Guitar, Dan Carpel on Bass, and Chris Hepola on Drums into the group.  Ryan Meisel's Jarred “Electric” represents one of the biggest musical risks he has  taken on a project. Stretching boundaries, the band strives to capture the edginess of 80’s and 90’s rock and heavy metal, along with 70's jazz fusion. Playing through an FX processor gives Ryan the chance to create fresh sounds that fuse improvised jazz with electronic experimentation. This band will feature all original music and will be playing from their latest vinyl of the same name.

This performance is a tribute to the Spiritual Music of John Coltrane and the profound impact it has had on my life. Whether it was a blues or a ballad, Coltrane shaped the world of Jazz with his technique and virtuosic musical concepts, later, taking inspiration from world religions and cultures. These songs, these improvisations, are my stories, and are my way of contributing to his legacy. I'd like to thank Chris, Isaiah, and Jake for contributing their music to this project and sharing in the creative process of making a live studio recording.
