Ryan Meisel is a multi-instrumentalist, educator and composer from Milwaukee Wisconsin. Ryan grew up outside of Milwaukee and honed his jazz skills under the tutelage of legendary bassist Richard Davis at the University of Wisconsin Madison and master jazz educators Ron Carter and Rodrigo Villanueva at Northern Illinois University. Ryan performs regionally with frequent stops at North Street Cabaret and Cafe Coda in Madison, Jazz Gallery and Jazz Estate in Milwaukee, Jazz Central Studios in Minneapolis, Merriman's Playhouse in South Bend, Bop Stop in Cleveland and often featured stints at festivals throughout the Midwest. Ryan strives to share music that is original, unifying among musicians and uplifting for audiences.
Hailing from the South, Celia Meisel is a soulful singer and saxophonist whose blues-infused sound is steeped in story and feeling. Her live sets take listeners on an emotional journey—equal parts tenderness, depth, and quiet fire. This is music meant to be experienced up close, in the room, together.
Meisel ensembles deliver thought provoking, dynamic, and spirited shows. Ryan’s influences can be heard through his compositions as they tell a story of his lifelong musical journey. A postmodern jazzman whether he’s playing bari, tenor, alto, or soprano sax, Ryan can captivate an audience with his sweet sinuous tone then excite with his burly edginess. Performing with his classic Quartet of Sax/Guitar/Bass/Drums, Ryan’s brand of fiery saxophone playing pushes his group’s improvisational limits. Ryan’s depth of work pays tribute to the authentic sounds of New Orleans Traditional Jazz, Blues, Swing, Hard-Bop and the Avant-Garde.
